Five Numbers Every Founder Should Know Each Week

You do not need every number in your business every day. Start with five that tell you what moved, what you made and where you stand.

WEEKLY CHECK
Money In₦640k
Money Out₦410k
Profit₦165k
Business Cash₦1.2m
Safe to Spend₦470k

A founder can have twenty reports and still not know whether the business is doing well.

The answer is not to watch more numbers. It is to watch the few numbers that help you make the next decision.

For a simple weekly check, start with five:

Money InMoney OutProfitBusiness CashSafe to Spend

Together, they tell you what moved, what you made and where you stand.

THE FIVE

Each number has one job.

01

Money In

What cash came into the business?

Customer payments, money received and other cash that entered the business during the week.

02

Money Out

What cash left the business?

Supplier payments, transport, subscriptions, salaries and every other payment that actually left.

03

Profit

Did the business actually make money?

Sales alone do not answer this. Profit looks at what remains after the costs and business expenses that belong to those sales.

04

Business Cash

How much cash does the business have now?

This is the current cash position before considering what still needs to be paid.

05

Safe to Spend

How much can you use after commitments?

Business Cash minus the commitments you have recorded. If commitments are higher, Safe to Spend is ₦0.

ONE WEEK

The numbers should tell a story, not sit in boxes.

Money In₦640,000Customers paid this week
Money Out₦410,000Cash that left this week
Profit₦165,000What the week actually made
Business Cash₦1,200,000
Safe to Spend₦470,000

Money In minus Money Out is not automatically Profit. Cash movement and business performance answer different questions.

THE ROUTINE

Ten quiet minutes can be enough.

01

Record the Money In and Money Out you missed.

02

Check what the business made — not only what it sold.

03

Update your Business Cash and Commitments.

04

Look at Safe to Spend before deciding what comes next.

WHAT TO WATCH

Do not chase one number.

A good week is not simply “Money In was high.”

Money In can rise while Profit falls. Business Cash can be high while Safe to Spend is low because important payments are coming.

The value comes from reading the five numbers together.

THE HABIT

Pick one day each week. Check the same five numbers. Over time, the changes become easier to see.

NEXT STEP

Make this your weekly money check.

Quinbis App keeps Money In, Money Out, Profit, Business Cash, Commitments and Safe to Spend in one place, so your weekly review starts with the numbers that matter.
